What is a blogger. In today’s information age this is a
popular question that is asked by many people. In reality a
blogger can be compared to a philosopher. It usually is a
personal journal that is updated frequently. In some cases
it can also be used by a business to form a more personal
relationship with a customer.

Usually a blogger will create a blog on a topic that they
are interested in. So for example if they are a soccer
fanatic then they may start a blog on their favourite team.
In many cases the topic could also be a current event that
interests them as well.

The big advantage of this platform is the ease at which you
can do this. There are free platforms available like
Blogger and WordPress which allow you to create your posts
with a graphical WYSIWYG interface that requires no
technical knowledge.

If a blog becomes popular and generates significant traffic
the owner can monetize it with advertising that suits this
type of medium. The most popular form of advertising used
is Google Adsense. If you use Blogger this is even built
into the interface as Google owns it. So it is just a
matter of selecting some predefined layouts to display your
advertising.

A typical “post” would consist of an opinion on a topic and
also link to other posts or websites. Blog carnivals are
always on the lookout for high quality articles and they
exist for nearly every type of topic. Blogs also use social
media to share popular posts.

I am sure that once you experiment with this type of
publishing you will find it fascinating like I did.

Are you tired of the regular templates that come with Blogger? Well never fear because this article will show you how you can change the colors and layout of your chosen template into something that’s unique and attractive. You can add different headers, change the background, and even change the font style and the best thing is that it’s actually very simple. So let’s get started so you can learn how to edit your Blogger templates.

We will start with the easy stuff first and change the fonts and colors of your template. Head to your Blogger Dashboard and click the layout tab. From there you’ll see four links. Choose the font’s and colors link and you’ll be taken to a page that is split into two sections. The top section contains the items that you can edit and change and the bottom section gives you a preview of what that change will look like. Feel free to change and play around as much as you like because nothing with actually be changed until you press the Save Changes button, so if you choose a color or font that you don’t like you can always cancel those changes. Once you are happy with your template then save your changes and you are done.

Next let’s add a custom header to our page. Most Blogger template headers are defaulted to display just text but you can easily add an image behind the text or even to replace the text at the top. Go to the Layout Tab and click on the Page Elements link. You’ll see a page that shows the basic layout of your blog. Find your header at the top and click the Edit link to bring up the Configure Header display. From here you can upload your image and choose to have it behind your test or instead of your text. Most Blogger header sizes are 730 pixels wide so keep this in mind when making your header graphic.

Advanced editing can also be done to your template however you will need some html and css knowledge before you decide to try and rewrite any code. However there are some simple things that you can do that shouldn’t be too hard. The first is changing the background color of your page. Scroll down until you see the body stylesheet of the template. This is where you’ll find the basic information about your template such as background color, line-height and general font-size. If you know the hexadecimal color that you want for your background then just replace the hex number (the number that starts with a hash (#)) with your new hex number.

In the advanced editing section you can also add your Google Analytics code at the bottom of the template before the /body tag if you would like to track your visitors.

Blogging is used in a number of different ways. It is so popular that it has become perhaps the best way to express yourself in any forum. There are blogs for almost every topic you can think of! Just this morning I found a blog about messed up cakes… it was hilarious!

Many bloggers also set up their sites with the intention of earning a living with it, either by directly selling products or selling advertising and using AdSense.

When deciding on Blogger or WordPress, the first thing you must decide is what you’re using your blog for. For me this is the deciding factor when deciding which platform to use.

Blogger or WordPress: The Comparison

First of all, I’m referring to WordPress.org, where you buy the hosting and install the program itself. That right there is one of the problems with using WordPress because it is a little more technical to set up and maintain than a Blogger site. However, there are thousands of tutorials all over the web that can show you how to deal with problems as they arise. And, after a while, you’ll have a thorough understanding of how to use it.

With Blogger, it’s much more plug-n-play. You fill out a little info about yourself, and you can start posting. Almost that fast too!

However, there are two main important debates with the Blogger or WordPress issue. The first is the domain name. With WordPress, you can purchase your own domain, and it can be whatever you want. With blogger, your domain will have the word “blogspot” as in yourdomain.blogspot.com.

The second issue is that you don’t own your Blogger site. If for someone reason you break some silly rule, or for whatever arbitrary reason Google comes up with, you could have your blog taken down.

With WordPress, you host it on a 3rd party site and you own the domain. Essentially, the site is yours and cannot be taken down.

I have also noticed that WordPress tends to rank better on Google. I’ve had dozens of posts show up on the front page of Google, when Blogger sites are nowhere to be seen.

Blogger Or WordPress: When To Use Each

I personally believe that Blogger is fantastic for two things. One, anyone who just simply wants to share their thoughts with the world completely for fun should absolutely use Blogger. It’s probably not worth the hassle to set up a WordPress site in this case. Also, if you’re just barely, barely, barely starting a business and don’t have any time or money to work with WordPress, you can use it for a little while.

However, when using your blog for making an income, I highly suggest using WordPress. The domain name looks much more professional and you don’t want your blog shut down for some dumb reason when it’s making you good money.

And, once you’ve learned the basics of setting up your site, then you can charge to set up other WordPress sites! This is a great way to earn some fast, easy money.

As you can probably tell, this Blogger or WordPress debate for me is easy. The hands-down winner is WordPress. Even though it costs a little money, it’s really only like 8 bucks a month. It can be a little work, but it’s not hard to find sources on the internet to help you.
